The Golden Temple Amritsar India (Sri Harmandir Sahib Amritsar) is not only a central religious place of the Sikhs, but also a symbol of human brotherhood and equality. To pen-down the philosophy, ideology, the inner and outer beauty, as well as the historical legacy of Sri Harmandir Sahib is a momentous task. It is a matter of experience rather than a of description.Shri Guru Arjan Dev ji Sahib, the Fifth Nanak, conceived the idea of creating a central place of worship for the Sikhs and he himself designed the architecture of Sri Harmandir Sahib. Earlier the planning to excavate the holy tank (Amritsar or Amrit Sarovar) was chalked out by Guru Amardas Sahib, the Third Nanak, but it was executed by Guru Ramdas Sahib under the supervision of Baba Budha ji.

War Memorial is situated in the Distt City Amritsar. It is situated in Chattiwind Gate on Taran Taaran road. In the year 1757 when BABA DEEP SINGH JI got the news that Taimurshah & Jahan Khan have shown disrespect for SHRI DARBAR SAHIB & also started filling the holy sarovar, even though BABA JI was in old age he carried a 18 ser heavy Khanda in his hand to free SHRI DARBAR SAHIB. He took pledge to teach a lesson to the cruel and started his journey for SHRI AMRITSAR SAHIB. On hearing this , Jahan Khan had made thousands of his soldiers ready on the outskirts of the town near Gohalvadh village. There was a fierce battle. BABA JI was still far from the town when during his battle with Jahan Khan, he was beheaded. A Singh standing close to BABA JI when reminded BABA JI of his pledge, such a miracle happened which had never happened in the world before. BABA JI held his head in his left hand & with his right hand he swayed the Khanda with such a force that the enemies started running. Like this, fighting the fierce battle, BABA JI reached SHRI AMRITSAR and offered his head at SHRI HARMANDAR SAHIB. Antim Sanskar of BABA DEEP SINGH JI and other Shaheed Singhs was done here.

Gurdwara Bir Baba Budha Sahib Located 20 km south of Amritsar in the village of Thatta on Chaabal Amritsar road, Gurdwara Bir Baba Budha Sahib popularly known as Bir Sahib is the place where Baba Budha Ji spend much part of his life (1506 – 1631). This is also the place where Guru Arjan Dev Ji and his wife Mata Ganga was blessed with the son, Shri Hargobind Sahib. The present building was constructed by Baba Kharak Singh, a follower of Sant Gurmukh Singh Sevavale. In the years 1951 and 1975, a rectangular hall and a spacious divan hall was added to it. At an end of the rectangular hall, the holy book Guru Granth Sahib is placed on a canopied seat which is a meter high square platform made of white marble. The 70 metre square Amrit Sarovar is on the northern side of this hall. While digging the sarovar, Baba ji was the coordinator of the volunteers and he sat on the border of the Sarovar under the shade of a Jujubee tree to perform his duty, which still stands alive.

Shree Durgiana Temple is a premier Hindu temple of Punjab (India) situated in the city of Amritsar. This temple derives its name from the Goddess Durga and it is also called by the name of Shree Lakshmi Narayan Temple.The temple was constructed by Harsai Mal Kapoor in 1908 on the pattern of the Sikh Golden Temple and it is located near the Lohgarh gate. It is sometimes called Silver temple for its carved silver doors. The temple complex has some historic temples such as Sita Mata and Bara Hanuman. The idea to built Shree Durgiana Mandir as it stands today was the brain child of Gur Shai Mal Kapoor, a great visionary and religious minded person. His statue in monumental alabaster in a sitting posture has been established just opposite the main entrance or Darshani Deori. The foundation stone of the temple was laid down by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya in 1924 on Ganga Dashmi day .

Gurdwara Shri Janam Asthaan Baba Deep Singh Ji is situated in the village Pahuvind Teh Patti Distt Tarn Taran. BABA DEEP SINGH JI was born on 26th January 1682 to Father Bhai Bagtu ji and Mata Jeoni ji. At the age of eighteen, he received Amrit from the Panj Pyare at Anandpur Sahib on Vaisakhi day and took an oath to serve as one of Waheguru’s warriors (Akal Purakh dee fauj). With his new name, Deep Singh also learned that Sikhs are to always help the weak and needy, and to fight for truth and justice. After receiving the vows of the Khalsa, he stayed on in Anandpur to continue his studies of the sacred texts under Bhai Mani Singh. He soon became one of the Guru’s most beloved Sikhs staying in Anandpur for a total of about eight years. BABA DEEP SINGH JI was the leader of the famous ” Shaheedan Di Missel ” among the 12 missels. Apart from getting the GURU GRANTH SAHIB’S saroop written, he also actively participated in all the major battles that took place in the 18th century.

Gurdwara Sri Tarn Taran Sahib is a gurdwara established by the fifth guru, Guru Arjan Dev, in the city of Tarn Taran Sahib, Punjab, India. The site has the distinction of having the largest sarovar (water pond) of all the gurdwaras. It is famous for the monthly gathering of pilgrims on the day of Amavas (a no-moon night). It is near Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar. Baba Deep Singh Shaheed at Tarn Taran Sahib made a mark on the ground, and he asked the Sikhs if they were ready to die fighting against the enemies before entering into war against the Afhan Empire in 1757. In 1768 Sardar Budh Singh Virk of Singhpuria Misl and Maharaja Jassa Singh Ramgarhia of Ramgarhia Misl joined hands to rebuild the Darbar Sahib Tarn Taran. Which then was in a shape of a traditional mud building.

Ramtirth Temple , dedicated to Lord Ram is situated 11 kms west of Amritsar on Amritsar Lopoke road. The temple dates back to the period of Ramayana and the place is famous for the ashram of sage Valmiki . It is the place where the sage gave shelter to Sita , wife of Rama when she was abandoned after the Lanka Victory. It was here that she gave birth to the twins Lav and Kush. The great epic Ramayana is also said to have been composed here by Rishi Balmik. It is also believed that the fight between Lord Ram Chandras forces and Lav and Kush had also taken place at Ram Tirth.

Goindwal (also spelled Goindval) is the site of a township and well constructed in the 16th century by Guru Amar Das. It is located on the banks of the River Beas.Goindwal Baoli, the Well of Goindwal Guru Amar Das had a baoli, or covered well, constructed in Goindwal to serve the needs of Sikhs and other visitors. The well spans about 25 feet, or 8 meters. An arched access opens to a domed entrance decorated with frescoes depicting the life of Guru Amar Das. A divided underground staircase with 84 covered steps descends beneath the earth to its sacred waters. One side of the staircase is for the use of women and the other for men. Each step is thought to represent 100,000 life forms of a possible 8.4 million existences. Many devotees visiting Baoli Sahib recite the hymn of “Japji” on each step. They descend to bathe, perform ablution, and return to the next step, performing 84 recitations in hopes of being liberated from transmigration.

Gurdwara Khadoor Sahib is situated in the Khadoor Sahib city in Tarn Taran Distt. The Eight Guru Sahibaans with their visits to this place made this land a holy place.It is a historical fact that the Eight Gurus by their visit to KHADUR SAHIB, made this town of great historical importance. It is the place where Gurmukhi Lipi was introduced for the first time as medium of language after careful modification by Guru Angad Sahib.GURUDWARA ANGEETHA SAHIB : It is a historical fact that SHRI GURU ANGAD DEV JI MAHARAJ lived at KHADUR SAHIB for a long period. He left for heavenly abode at KHADUR SAHIB after performing many great religious, social & cultural activities. The place where GURU’S last sacred rites were performed is given the name of ANGITHA SAHIB PAATSHAHI DOOJI.
